Hotel managers should note that Internet is as essential in hotels today as water. It is no longer enough to have a office area where guests can send emails or surf the net during the day-time. We are talking about Internet access 24×7 in the hotel for every single guests – preferably without paying extra for it. Small hotels usually offer a single computer and printer for use by guests on a payment. Even though managers do not need to set up an Internet cafe of sorts for guests, providing Internet wall links, plugs, etc. should be arranged for. Any investment in having the entire hotel area covered by a wi-fi Internet line would surely pay in the long run. According to a survey, hotel guests are increasingly choosing one hotel over another just because of availability of Internet access even if they have to compromise slightly on quality!
- Check if the hotel could provide wi-fi Internet access across the entire hotel area
- What plug points, wires etc. are required for providing Internet points in all rooms and the lobby where guests could plug in using their own laptops.
- Have a good stock of plugs, sockets, different types of wires that guests might need for their laptops to connect to an Internet point.
